Jack, after his short-lived bid for the Republican presidential nomination, Trump sycophant Vivek Ramaswamy bought a 8.4% stake in Buzzfeed.

Like many other digital publications, Buzzfeed has been struggling to stay afloat. The company has sold off assets, shut down their Pultizer Prize-winning newsroom, and earlier this year laid off 16% of their staff. Buzzfeed was probably eager to see their stock price rise after Ramaswamy invested in the company.

However, his investment came with strings attached. The failed presidential candidate demanded that the publication hire right-wing loudmouths Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens to “challenge your audiences.” He also suggested that the company return to a “start-up size” and lay off a large amount of their staff.

Daily Kos has been financially struggling, too. However, we will not turn to some billionaire backer that would demand changes to our values and mission.

The majority of our income to power our work comes directly from our community. Daily Kos relies on grassroots donations from thousands of our readers and activists to survive. Honestly, we prefer it that way—that makes us accountable to you, Jack. We know that in order to keep operating, we have to fight and deliver for what you believe in.

That's why I am asking for your help today: Can you please support the work Daily Kos does day in and day out with a donation of $5 or more today?

PLEASE DONATE

Thank you for all you do,
Amanda McKay, Daily Kos
