A cute image of a pangolin

John,

Pangolins are the most trafficked mammal on earth. They’re stolen and slaughtered by the hundreds of thousands because some people wrongly think that their scales cure cancer.

Now, a mining company is trying to destroy one of the last places where pangolins can be safe in the wild. This unique, fragile, shy little animal desperately needs our help!

Every $7 donated protects an entire acre of pangolin habitat, and for the next 48 hours our donations will be matched, doubling our impact.

This money will go to building a massive national park in pangolin-rich Guinea, where mining and poaching would be BANNED. But the mining company is racing to expand into the SAME land. We have to beat them to it and save thousands of pangolins.

Can you urgently pitch in?

Pangolins can't cure cancer, but they are very real forest protectors. Just one pangolin eats enough termites to safeguard over 40 hectares of forest!

And it isn’t just pangolins in this forest – chimps and elephants call it home as well! But extensive illegal logging and timber trafficking are posing an existential threat to the ecosystem. That’s why our partners Rainforest Trust and The Wild Chimpanzee Foundation are trying to create this massive protected area (the size of Luxembourg!) before the mining company makes things even worse.

They’re working with the government of Guinea and local communities to ensure the new park is supported and resourced. These communities will be deeply involved at every stage of the park’s creation and management, including training to work as eco-guards to prevent trafficking.

Over the last few years, the Ekō community has come together repeatedly to buy and protect forests just like this. Let’s do it again and help save the pangolin’s home from devastation. They deserve somewhere safe to live.

Chip in what you can, our donations will be matched, doubling our impact:
