John,
Today is the first day of Pride Month. As we celebrate our progress and
continue the fight to protect queer and trans communities, remember that
the first Pride was a riot. Protests have always been central to winning
our rights and liberties. They are the backbone of our democracy and
freedoms – and right now, the right to protest is under attack.

Across the nation, protests face disproportionate and militarized
responses. And at protests, we're seeing ever-increasing police violence
against queer and trans folks, especially our Black and brown trans
siblings.
[ [link removed] ]John, demand Congress take action to explicitly protect the
right to protest and ensure actions taken by law enforcement during
protests are transparent and accountable.
Queer and trans feminists continue to teach us so much about standing up
and fighting for our rights. It is in the legacy of these leaders that we
must protect the right to protest.
