One of my most important responsibilities as a Member of Congress is to ensure New Hampshire taxpayers' hard-earned dollars are spent wisely and reinvested in our communities. 

This week, I visited New Boston to discuss how the town is using federal funds I helped secure to modernize its fire station to better serve the community and the Space Force Station. New Boston’s Fire Department and first responders go above and beyond every day to support their community and Space Force’s critical operations—it’s essential they have the infrastructure and equipment they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.

Access to affordable, quality housing is critical to our state’s continued economic growth.

It’s no secret that New Hampshire is experiencing a housing shortage, and communities across the Granite State are feeling the impact. We need to build 90,000 new housing units by 2040 to meet demand.

It was great to visit Keene Housing’s new Roosevelt East School Housing Project this week to discuss how we can grow our state’s housing stock with federal funding I helped secure. Projects like Roosevelt East will have a positive impact on Keene by expanding access to affordable housing and addressing workforce shortages, a win-win!

Access to reliable internet is critical to participating in our 21st-century economy.

Access to reliable internet isn’t a luxury in the 21st century, it’s a necessity. The Affordable Connectivity Program has helped thousands of Granite State households access affordable internet, expanding access to health care, job opportunities, and more. In states with low employment rates like New Hampshire, the internet is essential to connecting job seekers with employers and businesses.

Unfortunately, this critical program, which was passed on a bipartisan vote, will run out of funding without congressional action. For months, I’ve urged my Republican colleagues to put partisan politics aside and work with Democrats to extend funding for the ACP. I’ll keep fighting to ensure Granite Staters stay connected!

Building a Future Worthy of Pride: In case you missed it, my friend and Walpole resident Ken Burns delivered a compelling commencement speech for Brandeis University's graduating class. We all have a role to play in standing up for what we believe in, advocating for a better future, and pursuing the change that we want to see in our country—and Ken’s speech beautifully encapsulated this shared belief.

Direct File is Here to Stay: This year, New Hampshire was selected to pilot the IRS’ new Direct File tax service, helping Granite Staters save time and money when filing their taxes. Following a successful tax season, the IRS announced that Direct File is here to stay and that more taxpayers will be eligible for the 2025 filing season.
