Welcome to Hogan’s Highlights! Every week, we’ll give you an exclusive look at Gov. Larry Hogan’s journey on the campaign trail and round up the biggest stories impacting the state of the Senate race.
This week, Governor Hogan released a new TV ad, unveiled his education priorities, continued his Strong Independent Leadership Tour across Maryland, and so much more!
Let’s dive in!
HONORING FALLEN HEROES
Monday, May 27th was Memorial Day. Governor Hogan reflected on the courageous service and sacrifice of the men and women in our Armed Forces who gave their lives to defend the freedoms and values we hold dear as Americans.
Governor Hogan: “As Americans, we have the unique privilege of living in the greatest nation in the world. Memorial Day reminds us that it all comes at a tremendous price. Thank you will never be enough.”
On Tuesday, May 28th, Governor Hogan released his second ad of the general election, titled “Right for Maryland.”
Governor Hogan: “In the Senate, Republicans can’t count on my vote, but then again, neither can Democrats. If they want my vote, they will have to do what is right for Maryland, not one political party. That’s exactly what I did as your governor, and it’s exactly the kind of Senator I’ll be.”

EDUCATION PRIORITIES
On the same day, Governor Hogan visited Archbishop Borders School in Highlandtown, where he met more than 40 students who have benefited from the state’s BOOST Scholarship Program to provide choices and opportunities for families in need.
Governor Hogan knows that every child deserves to have access to a world-class education—regardless of what zip code they happen to grow up in.
But in order to make our schools the best in the world, we need to embrace innovative ideas for the 21st century instead of continuing to be weighed down by old partisan divisions.
That means taking the same approach Gov. Hogan had while serving as governor. In addition to record-funding K-12 education, his administration made unprecedented strides to empower parents, build first-rate school facilities, and expand choice and innovation.
On Wednesday, May 29th, Gov. Hogan hit the road for more stops on his Strong Independent Leadership Tour across Maryland!
After crossing the Bay Bridge, Governor Hogan started his full day on the Eastern Shore by visiting Patriot Point in Dorchester County.
Governor Hogan: “Patriot Point is the Military Bowl Foundation’s 294-acre outdoor recreational retreat facility for wounded active duty service members, veterans, and their families.
There are truly no words adequate enough to express our deepest appreciation to all those currently serving and to all of our military veterans and their families. Your courage and strength is an inspiration to us all.”
Next, Gov. Hogan and the team stopped by the Woolford General Store for lunch with leaders from Maryland’s seafood, charter boat, forestry, and agricultural industries to discuss issues currently facing their communities.
Gov. Hogan: “As governor, I was proud to show continued support to our farmers, watermen, and producers. In the Senate, I will remain committed to ensuring that all the hard working members of our state’s ag community get the appreciation and resources they deserve.”
After lunch, Gov. Hogan caught up with local Dorchester County leaders at Simmons Center Market in Cambridge, a family owned and operated grocery store that has been serving the surrounding community since 1937.
Gov. Hogan: “Thank you to market owner and Dorchester County Councilman Ricky Travers for showing us around! I’m honored to have the support of Dorchester County Councilman Mike Detmer—a Republican—and Dorchester County Councilman Ricky Travers—a Democrat. In the Senate, I’ll continue to reach across the aisle to work with anyone who wants to do the people’s business.”
Gov. Hogan then traveled to the Ocean City Boardwalk, where he received the endorsements of Ocean City Career Firefighter Paramedics Association IAFF Local 4269 and the Worcester County Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 4916.
Gov. Hogan: “Not a day goes by that I’m not immensely grateful for the service of our state’s firefighters and first responders who selflessly put themselves in harm’s way to keep Marylanders safe.”
To finish out the day, Gov. Hogan was privileged to attend Stephen Decatur High School’s commencement ceremony and address the graduating students and their families.
Gov. Hogan: “To the Class of 2024, may the road ahead of you be filled with great successes, a lifetime of memories, and the unwavering belief that you can overcome anything thrown in your way. Congratulations!”

Gov. Hogan is in this race to restore normalcy in Washington, DC. It’s time to put country before party once again. With your help, we can!
When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.
Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.
Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.
I don't aspire to be a United States senator. I don’t need a title and I don’t need a job, but I’m more concerned than ever about the direction of the country and I have become more convinced that I can make a difference by taking the approach and style of leadership I had during my eight years as governor to Washington.
It’s no surprise this mindset has made me a target of the Washington partisans. Despite early polls showing a lead, I know I’m the underdog in this race. And that’s why your support TODAY is so crucial.
For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation didn’t need to divide our state, and we got results! Let’s get back to work again and send a message to Washington that will be heard loud and clear across the country!
