John,
May was a month of meaningful connections, heartfelt honors, and steadfast commitment to our future. We dedicated ourselves to engaging with our community, celebrating the heroes of our past, and working tirelessly to secure a brighter future for all. From attending community events and honoring the sacrifices of our peace officers, to hosting roundtables and engaging young people in civic duties, every moment was a testament to our collective effort and shared vision. As we move forward, let's continue to unite, honor, and fight for the values that make our district and nation great.
For National Law Enforcement Appreciation Week, Scott Baugh Team Members wanted to show their appreciation for the incredible men and women of law enforcement who keep our district safe. Thank you for the sacrifices you make, we hope you enjoy the donuts! And to everyone, whenever you see a member of law enforcement, let them know how much you appreciate the great work they do!
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Hoag OC Marathon was a truly special experience! As the founder of the OC Marathon Foundation, I was honored to be there, handing out medals to runners and witnessing the incredible community spirit. The Foundation has trained over 100,000 students on the importance of exercise and nutrition through its Kids Run, fostering lifelong healthy habits in our youth. The Hoag OC Marathon has also raised over $9 million for children's charities, positively impacting the lives of Orange County children in need. Thank you to all the participants, volunteers, and supporters who make the Kids Run such a successful and meaningful tradition!
To kick off Taiwanese American Heritage Week, it was an honor to attend the opening of the Taiwanese Cultural Center here in Orange County. Thank you to the Orange County Taiwanese Association, the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, and many more for hosting this event. One of our great allies around the world, it is important we support Taiwan’s rich history and culture, now and for the future.
It was an honor to attend the Black April Memorial. I want to thank Senator Janet Nguyen for her leadership in the community. May we continue to honor and remember the sacrifices made in the pursuit of freedom.
As we conclude a busy and productive May, I want to shine a spotlight on the heartbeat of our campaign: our amazing interns. Their dedication, hard work, and commitment to civic engagement have infused our team with energy and passion. They are the driving force behind our efforts, and their contributions are invaluable.
We deeply appreciate everything our interns do to keep our campaign moving forward. Their enthusiasm and fresh perspectives are inspiring, reminding us why we are all here—to make a difference in our community.

One of the highlights of this month was hosting a call day for the HB3 candidates in Huntington Beach. It was an inspiring and energizing day, filled with meaningful conversations and a strong sense of community. Talking to both old and new friends, we united in our shared commitment to get this state back on track.
The enthusiasm and dedication of everyone involved were truly uplifting. It's moments like these that remind us of the power of collective effort and the importance of coming together for a common cause.
Thank you to everyone who participated and supported the HB3 candidates. Your involvement and passion are what drive us forward. Together, we can make a significant impact and create the positive change our community needs.
Everywhere I go, I meet supporters and constituents, and I’m inspired by the diverse and hardworking individuals I encounter. From all walks of life, we share a common thread of patriotism and a desire to shape a brighter future. Whether in CA-47 or beyond, your voices matter. Let’s unite, celebrate our differences, and work together to uphold the values that make us proud to be Americans!
I celebrated with many old and new friends at Israel Fest in Irvine this month. It was a lovely afternoon that amplified the richness and beauty of the Jewish community.
I can’t think of a more impactful time in generations when we all need to stand tall with the Jewish community. It was not lost on any of the attendees that Israel is at risk and that after the heinous October 7th attacks there are those who do not agree with Israel’s right to protect itself.
Thank you to Calico Fish House, Chef Andrew Gruel, the HB3, and all the wonderful people who came out for the Huntington Beach Meet and Greet. Your support means the world to us. Because of your hard work, the future is bright in HB!
This month, we hosted many dynamic phone bank events, encouraging students and volunteers to get involved in our campaign. It was an incredible opportunity for young people to learn about the voting process, gain hands-on experience, and grow through real campaign operations.
The energy and enthusiasm from the students were infectious. They eagerly made calls, engaged with voters, and learned the ins and outs of grassroots campaigning. It's inspiring to see the next generation of leaders take an active role in shaping our future.
We are grateful for their dedication and hard work. By participating in our campaign, these students are not only contributing to a vital cause but also building valuable skills and knowledge that will serve them well in their civic duties.
Thank you to all the students who joined us. Your passion and involvement are what make our campaign stronger. Let's continue to empower and educate, paving the way for a brighter future together!
I spent a day with some of our district’s youngest constituents! Thank you Pretend City and Michelle Barto for the insightful tour. My mission in Congress is to protect our children's healthy and prosperous future.
This month, I had the privilege of attending a business roundtable hosted by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) in Irvine. It was an enriching experience to connect with numerous local business owners and hear firsthand about the issues that matter most to them.
Our discussions covered a wide range of topics, from regulatory challenges to opportunities for growth and innovation. These conversations underscored the vital role that small businesses play in our community and the need for policies that support their success.
I am committed to advocating for the needs of our business community and ensuring that their voices are heard. Thank you to the NFIB for hosting this important event and to all the business owners who participated. Together, we can work towards a thriving economic future for our district.
I had the honor of attending a Peace Officer Memorial event, a poignant reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of our law enforcement officers. While our campaign trail is often filled with camaraderie and shared joy, it’s equally important to pause and reflect on the solemn moments. These heroes and their families have made immense sacrifices to uphold our safety and freedoms, ensuring we can continue to pursue the American dream we hold dear. Let’s cherish their memory and honor their legacy.
Across our community, the outpouring of support for our nation’s veterans was deeply moving, as we honored those who made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. We live in a district that understands our freedoms are not free, and we will continue the work to support all those who answer the call to defend.
Memorial Day was an opportunity to reflect on my own family, my grandfather who fought in the Battle of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge, my great Uncle who was there at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, and my great friend Ben Klaffke who fought at Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
But it is also an opportunity to reconnect with many of the veterans of our district. Everywhere I went, Veterans had the same feedback. Our quality of care is nowhere near where it needs to be. We cannot ask individuals to make these sacrifices if we are not able to provide for them when they return. It is time we streamline our VA health care system, give veterans more access to community care, and increase the standards at the VA. This is how we honor and serve those who have served us, everyday.
