You've probably heard the news by now, but here it is again: Yesterday, May 30th, a jury found Donald Trump guilty on all 34 counts in his hush money trial in New York. Trump just became the only President to be criminally convicted.
So, what does this mean? Let's break it all down.
Can Trump still become President in November? As of right now, yes. Trump can remain in the race. Nothing in the Constitution says a convicted felon cannot run for President. 😣 Yes, we know it's f*cked up – especially considering the fact that convicted felons in most states have lost their right to vote.
What does this mean for the election in general? This is unchartered, unprecedented territory. It's the first time a convicted felon is in the presidential race. Many legal challenges may arise, especially since Trump made it clear that he's going to fight this, maintaining his “innocence.”
Is Trump going to jail? Trump's sentencing is on July 11th, just 4 days before the Republican National Convention, where Republicans will decide whether or not Trump is their candidate.
What happens next? While this was the first step in Trump's accountability, now, we can only wait for what's next and get to work. Guess what happened the moment the verdict was out? Trump's fundraising site actually crashed due to the influx of donations coming in from his culty followers.
John, we cannot let them win. The Trump minions are willing to do whatever it takes to get Trump back in office – something we can prevent if we put our people-power to work. Chip in now, and take it a step further by becoming a monthly recurring donor >>
