This Memorial Day weekend, I traveled across the district to honor the incredible bravery of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation's security. We are forever indebted to these individuals whose selfless acts have secured the very freedoms and rights that define our nation.

In honor of their memory, I introduced a resolution to recognize those who continue the legacy of our fallen soldiers with their ongoing commitment to protecting our great nation. The sacrifices of those who have died for our country must never be forgotten, and we must honor their legacy by supporting those who continue to defend our freedoms.

God bless America, and God bless our soldiers, veterans, and those we have lost in the line of duty.

Recently, my bill, the Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act, passed through the House of Representatives in a widely bipartisan vote. Introduced during Police Week, this bill honors the brave men and women in law enforcement who risk their lives daily to keep our communities safe.

Under this bill, individuals who assault the Americans who protect us will be permanently detained until they are deported. The massive influx of illegal immigrants under the Biden Administration has created significant risks to our national security and public safety. The administration's weak policies have allowed dangerous criminals to escape accountability and create chaos in our cities. With this bill, we reaffirm our dedication to upholding the rule of law and protecting those who protect us.

As the crisis at our border worsens by the day, it has never been more important that we take action to ensure the integrity of our borders and the safety of our citizens.

Recently, the House Judiciary Committee voted to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for refusing to release the audio recordings of Special Counsel Hur's interview with Joe Biden.

These recordings are crucial in the investigation into President Biden's mishandling of classified documents. In his report, Special Counsel Hur found Biden to have "willfully retained and disclosed classified materials" as a private citizen. Now, Attorney General Merrick Garland has ignored Congressional subpoenas while refusing to turn over these recordings that are vital to the investigation.

The American people deserve accountability. Either Biden is mentally unfit to serve as president, or he is mentally fit and must stand trial to answer for his actions.

Last week, I responded to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management's (BOEM) Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the Atlantic Shores offshore wind projects off the Jersey coast. Despite the report identifying major harm to the South Jersey community across numerous industries, BOEM proceeded to approve the projects anyway.

Their blatant disregard for the safety and prosperity of South Jersey is unacceptable and I will not stand for it. Governor Murphy and the Biden Administration must turn their attention away from energy sources that simply do not work and instead focus on solutions that will truly benefit hardworking American families.

I had the honor of meeting with Tom Innocente, Fred Vineyard, and Don Brown, members of the New Jersey American Veterans Post 911, to celebrate their achievement of the Energy Star Certification from the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

After rigorous evaluations by licensed professionals and an exhaustive application process, Post 911 has officially earned the title of an energy-efficient building. Their tireless efforts paid off, and it was a privilege to celebrate this impressive achievement with them.

Last week, Rep. Van Drew joined Fox & Friends to discuss Biden's border crisis and the president's latest DEI initiatives.

Biden's border crisis has taken its toll on communities across the United States, creating a country where we do not know who our own neighbors are. Instead of taking action to discourage illegal immigration, President Biden is actively incentivizing it by subsidizing the travel, food, and housing for illegals in America. Our country deserves real leadership from a president who will act in the best interests of its citizens.

Additionally, President Biden has launched a new DEI initiative that would have the Veterans Affairs Department offer race-based training programs that excludes white veterans. Our veterans have given their all for our country, and to exclude our nation's heroes based on race is unacceptable. All of our veterans deserve the best access to training and care possible, and this initiative falls short of that standard.

Recently, I relaunched the bipartisan Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Reform Caucus along with Representative Cartwright (D-PA). Joined by 12 other members of Congress, this caucus is set to address critical issues that have affected our federal prison system.  Together, we will advocate for policies that will work to enhance the overall effectiveness of the BOP workforce. 

Right now, our prison system is plagued by understaffing, substandard working conditions, and issues with staff retention, among other challenges. By addressing these key areas, the caucus aims to initiate meaningful change that will lead to a safer and more secure correctional environment.
