Rep. Troy E. Nehls Holds Ceremony for Service Academy Appointees Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. As you know, on May 30, 2024, President Donald Trump was found "guilty" in the show trial in New York City, presided over by a compromised judge, Juan Merchan, with a biased jury, and Democrat prosecutors. May 30, 2024, is one of the darkest days in the history of our country. I don't know if our country can ever recover from the abuse of this government on President Trump. I hope the American people will see through this and do the right thing for the future of our country in November, as we know Judge Merchan is compromised to the core. There is no doubt in my mind this will be overturned on appeal. I will do everything possible to get President Trump back in the White House. I had the pleasure of speaking with Sweetgrass Republicans at the Del Webb community in the 22nd Congressional District of Texas. We discussed what's been going on in Congress and the sham trial in NYC. While at the Del Webb Sweetgrass, we filmed a video showing our support for President Trump. I sent this video to President Trump, and he truly appreciated the show of support. One thing is clear: TX-22 stands with President Trump, and we are with him all the way. This Week in TX-22 Rep. Troy E. Nehls Joins the Benny Show to Discuss President Trump's Trial in New York Watch the full interview HERE. Rep. Troy E. Nehls Holds Ceremony for Service Academy Appointees I held a ceremony this week to honor and congratulate Service Academy Appointees from the 22nd Congressional District of Texas. In 2023, members of my district team and members of a board nominated 32 students from the 22nd Congressional District of Texas to various military service academies, including the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Military Academy West Point, the United States Coast Guard Academy, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Of these nominations, 14 students received an appointment from their respective academies. In total, five students were appointed to the United States Military Academy West Point, four students were appointed to the United States Air Force Academy, one student was appointed to the United States Naval Academy, two students were appointed to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, and two students were appointed to the Naval Academy Preparatory School. This year, two students who attended preparatory school will be attending the Air Force Academy. I am proud of each of these young Americans! Service Academy Nominations Are Now Open My office is now accepting Service Academy Nominations. One of the privileges of serving in the United States House of Representatives is the opportunity to nominate outstanding young people from the 22nd Congressional District of Texas to be considered for appointment to our nation’s service academies. Admission to a service academy is a two-tiered process. First, the candidate must meet the minimum standards set by the individual academy. Second, the candidate must complete the congressional application by October 11, 2024, to be considered for an interview in our office with the nomination review board. Please note, the ultimate selection of appointees rests solely with academy officials and is based on their competitive evaluation of all nominees. Please fill out the web form HERE to receive all of the application information. If you have any further questions, please email [email protected] or call my district office at (346) 762-6600.
