Team,

Following news of Justice Alito’s blatantly unethical flag fiasco, I reached out to Chief Justice Roberts in a letter asking him to meet to discuss judicial ethics in his capacity as the head of the Judicial Conference, which sets guidelines for the federal judiciary. He declined.

Roberts argued that he would not meet with senators due to “separation of powers.” But considering the Judicial Conference he leads is a body created by Congress, funded by Congress, and enforces laws passed by Congress, that argument just doesn't hold up.

We need a Supreme Court that applies honest fact-finding and neutral decision-making. It really shouldn't be this hard to get to the bottom of ethics problems at the Highest Court in the Land.

The work to hold the Supreme Court accountable to a basic ethical standard that Americans can trust is far from over. And my SCERT Act would do just that.

Will you chip in today to support my re-election campaign? I'm leading the effort to clean up the mess at the Court.
