Dear Neighbor,
In the 117th Congress, Democrats and the Biden Administration came together to establish the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) through the Infrastructure Law to deliver low-cost high-speed internet to millions of Americans. Through ACP, low-income households receive up to a $30 per month discount on their internet bills. As of April 2024, more than 23 million households had enrolled in the ACP, saving more than $14.6 billion on monthly internet or mobile phone bills.
Unfortunately, extreme Republicans have not funded the ACP this year, which means the program will expire at midnight TONIGHT. Over 76,000 households in California's 44th District will see their internet costs increase while others may lose access to affordable broadband, which is unacceptable. Thankfully, the Biden Administration is stepping in to ensure Ameicans can remain connected at low costs.
Today, the White House announced that some broadband carriers will still honor the program so Americans can continue to have access to affordable internet through the end of 2024. The following carriers will give households an up to $30 a month discount on high-speed internet connection, with no fees and data caps. All of these carriers are available to communities in and near California's 44th District.
My House Democratic colleagues and I will continue to fight to fund the Affordable Connectivity Program, so all Americans can afford to access critical internet services for their healthcare, jobs, education, and more.
