McClay is no stranger to FIRST THINGS readers, having given the 2021 Erasmus Lecture on “The Claims of Memory.” In September, he will address what has come to be a core theme of FIRST THINGS in 2024: the desperate need for artists to produce cultural artifacts that reflect the Christian understanding of things.
How can Christian artists accomplish this without becoming didactic? What can we do to support them as they undertake this project? Join us on September 9 to consider these and other vital questions of faith and the arts.
