I am sure you’ve all seen the news: Donald Trump was just convicted on all counts by a jury of his peers in his New York hush money trial.
Let me be clear: This verdict was a clear signal that the rule of law still applies in America today and that no one, no matter how powerful they are, is above the law.
It also means that my Republican opponent Scott Baugh is now officially supporting a convicted felon – he’s even doubling down on his support for Donald Trump and calling this verdict– made by 12 everyday citizens trying to do the right thing– a “political persecution.”
Let’s be clear– democracy and the rule of law are on the ballot this November, and nowhere is that more apparent than in my race.
While I started my career prosecuting corporate fraud at the SEC and went on to teach law at UC Irvine, Scott Baugh has spent his career violating the law at every turn, hatching criminal schemes such as the campaign finance fraud that resulted in his being indicted for 22 criminal counts, or trying to give white collar criminals like himself a free pass when he was in the State Legislature.
We’re better than Donald Trump, Scott Baugh, and all of the MAGA extremists in Congress. Orange County needs a champion in Congress – not another corrupt politician.
