We hope you have had a great week and a meaningful Memorial Day. May, which is also Military Appreciation Month, is full of critical opportunities to show our military community appreciation and support, and pause to remember and honor our fallen servicemembers for their sacrifice. Congressman Kim was proud to join with the community to demonstrate our shared gratitude and hopes that in these moments, our servicemembers and veterans feel the depth of our commitment to them and their families. As the month ends and Memorial Day passes, this commitment cannot and will not waiver.

Honoring the Fallen this Memorial Day Weekend

On Memorial Day, we honor the memory and service of our fallen servicemembers and reflect on the sacrifice they and their loved ones gave for our country. We hope everyone could take a moment this weekend to show our appreciation for our military community. Last Saturday, Congressman Kim joined the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs at Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery to pay tribute to the fallen. In these moments of solemn remembrance, we help carry their memory forward for future generations to understand and appreciate.

On Monday, the Congressman joined with neighbors in Bordentown to remember those lost and show our appreciation for their courage, as well as the sacrifice their loved ones gave for our country.

Showing up for Others

We love celebrating individuals who go above and beyond for our local communities and our May Service Spotlight, Kevin, is no different. An advocate tirelessly working to create transformative change for the disability community, we are inspired by Kevin’s outlook on service and creating change. In his words:

“The world is going to tell you to give up and stop fighting. Don’t do it. They’ll tell you it’s impossible, but you just have to find your own path. One more step you take, is five more than someone behind you.”

NJ Invited to Join Free “Direct File” Tax Program

This week, we were excited to hear the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s announcement that the IRS’ Direct File program will be expanded in 2025! Congressman Kim previously pushed the IRS to expand Direct File so states like New Jersey could take part in such a successful and helpful program.

Americans should not have to pinch pennies just to file taxes and get benefits they are owed. We are thrilled that our state now has the chance to offer New Jerseyans a $0 filing option next year.

Trying to Save Savings in the Affordable Connectivity Program

Thanks to inaction by House Republicans, the Affordable Connectivity Program is expiring today and with it, the monthly savings thousands across New Jersey rely on. The program has helped 23 million households across the country save $30-$75 each month on internet bills.

Congressman Kim wants to continue lowering everyday costs for local families, close the digital divide, and is ready and working to extend this essential program right now.
