All gifts matched

BREAKING NEWS: Texas Supreme Court rejects claims brought by 20 women denied abortions. FIGHT BACK.

Team,

Today, the Texas Supreme Court issued a ruling in our case, Zurawski v. Texas, that fails to provide meaningful clarity on when doctors can perform abortions for dire medical reasons. To add insult to injury, the opinion erases the women we represent as though their pain and experiences didn't exist or matter.

We are angry, but we won’t stop fighting for abortion rights. Another generous donor has stepped up to expand our matching gift offer. Every gift you make will now be matched SIX times, up to $150,000.

WE NEED YOU

Most people assume that if something goes terribly wrong with their pregnancy—a serious risk to their health or a fatal fetal diagnosis—they can make the decision to terminate in consultation with their doctor. As women across the country are finding out, exceptions to abortion bans are an empty promise and it is dangerous to be pregnant in any state that bans abortion.

"We all deserve bodily autonomy," said lead plaintiff Amanda Zurawski. "Every day, people in Texas are being told that they have no options. It's sickening and wrong."

Our team filed this groundbreaking lawsuit in March 2023 seeking to clarify the scope of the state's "medical emergency" exception under its extreme abortion bans. In total, we represent 20 women who were denied emergency abortion care and two physicians.

Texas's decision today is deeply offensive to the women we represent and all pregnant people who are being unconscionably forced to beg their elected officials for their right to control their own bodies.

6X FOR ABORTION RIGHTS

Please right now, step up to support the fight for abortion rights and let these plaintiffs and so many other pregnant people at risk know that they are not alone.

We are enormously disappointed, but our team will not stop fighting. And we'll need you with us.

Onward,

Nancy Northup
President & CEO

P.S. I'm so grateful to the generous donor that stepped up in reaction to this devastating decision. Their generosity means any gift you make right now will be matched 6X up to $150,000. Please, we need you in this fight.
