John, I've been a bit of a troublemaker in Washington for, well, decades. And I’m proud to still be at it.
Throughout my life, I’ve always found activism to be the best antidote to despair. I even spent my 82nd birthday in jail for protesting government inaction on the climate emergency (Can you believe it? There weren’t any cakes or candles…) And you know what? I wear each arrest like a badge of honor because I was fighting for what I believe in.

For me, nonviolent disobedience is one of the most powerful tools we have in our arsenal; it’s why those in power are always trying to take it away from us. Engaging in nonviolent disobedience invites you to put your body — your actions — in alignment with your values and goals. Doing so calls attention to the issue, sways public opinion, mobilizes large numbers of people, and creates change.
Every time I stood, spoke, or sat in defiance, it was driven by my firm belief in collective action. When people come together, particularly at critical moments, we can make history.
And this November is our next big test, John: We're facing the most consequential election for climate action in our lifetimes. We’re the last generation who still has a chance to force meaningful change that could mean saving lives and species on a vast scale. That’s why I’m humbly asking for your support today. Even a donation as small as $5 can power our vital work at the Jane Fonda Climate PAC.
The fossil fuel industry is intensifying its efforts to secure its grip on our government. They’re betting on us staying home, so we need to disrupt their plans. I am calling on everyone to take the energy that we’ve brought to the streets to the polls and vote with climate in mind this year.
Through the Jane Fonda Climate PAC, we've channeled the spirit of defiance into electoral action by supporting down-ballot candidates who treat the climate crisis with the urgency it demands, but our success depends on your involvement.
So, I’m calling on you, John. Now is the time to act — whether it's by donating to support our cause, joining a climate protest, educating others about what’s at stake, or simply going out and voting for pro-climate candidates. You play a critical role in this fight.
In solidarity,
Jane Fonda
