Hello John — Milford Hayes here, Jahana’s husband.

I know you do not hear from me often, but there is something I’d like you to know about my wife and our household.

You see, we may pay a little more attention to the integrity of our justice system than most.

For more than 27 years, I have served in law enforcement, starting as a rookie police officer before spending the majority of my career as a detective, investigating major crimes and continuing in various roles within the police department.

John, I have spent my entire adult life working to defend the rule of law. I’ve investigated crimes and testified under oath as a witness. I have deep respect for the role judges, juries, prosecutors and even criminal defense attorneys play in upholding our system of justice.

I have sat with families as a verdict was rendered and there have been times when a jury reached a verdict that I did not agree with. However, I have never cast doubt, or lost faith in the integrity of our system of justice. I believe in it!

I know where my wife stands on this issue. I know Jahana supports the rule of law and I know she will work to preserve and protect our democracy.

Donald Trump and his surrogates are casting doubt on the integrity of our justice system and undermining the work of so many dedicated public servants. Jahana’s opponent has refused to say whether he will support Trump in November. This is important to me and should be important to you.

I know where our household stands. That is why it has never been more important to stand with Jahana in this historic time for our country.
