The election will begin June 7th and online voting will last until June 14th at 11:59 pm Eastern.
Those attending NLAS D.C. will be able, and are encouraged, to vote in person on June 15th.
The election will be run using approval voting, meaning voters can vote for as many candidates as they feel comfortable being on the committee. The candidates with the highest number of votes will win. For instance, if there are four candidates: April, Brent, Cindy, and Daniel and after reading their statements, you are only comfortable with April, Daniel, and Cindy, you can give each of them one vote. Your friend on the other hand is comfortable with all four, so they will vote for all four, while your neighbor, who is only comfortable with April, can cast one vote for April alone.
Two seats will be reserved for non-U.S. members to ensure international representation on the Steering Committee, meaning if the nine vote recipients are all from the U.S., the eighth and ninth-place winners will be displaced in favor of the two top vote-getting international candidates. In the event of a tie for ninth place, we will confer with the tied candidates and develop a fair method of adjudication.
To vote in the Steering Committee Elections, you must be a dues-paying member of the Center for New Liberalism. To learn more about being a member, and to become one, click the button below.
