Skate Park
Rogers Lake Skate Park Now Open!

After a year-long, $500,000 renovation, the Rogers Lake Skate Park is now open!

Cities throughout the country are making significant investments in skate park amenities because they provide a unique outlet for energy, creativity and social interaction among youth in the community.

“When you think about it, many children outgrow the play structures in City parks by the time they reach their teenage years,” said Meredith Lawrence, Mendota Heights parks and recreation director. “As a result, skate parks become a dynamic hub of activity and expression, promoting wellness for young adults – so when they spoke up and said the City’s skate park needed updating, we listened!”

Nearly 100 community members participated in the Rogers Lake Skate Park renovation process, which resulted in all-new skate park features and newly-poured concrete, as well as a partnership with engineering and design consultants.

“Community input played a key role in this renovation process” said Lawrence. “It was a great way to engage with young stakeholders who don’t typically participate in City government projects.”

Thanks to all of you who who participated in this process, and stopped by for the Ribbon Cutting last week!
