…and delaying the clean energy future we deserve
Hi there,
I'm sure you know which utility company you pay your power bill to each month, but do you know Edison Electric Institute (EEI)—the group that lobbies on behalf of utility companies across the country—is actively attacking climate progress?
If not, you should. Because it's currently using money from ratepayers to sue the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over common-sense climate rules—limits on harmful pollution from power plants—that advocates like you helped secure just months ago.
As if jacking up our bills isn't already bad enough, what dirty utilities and their lobbyists are doing behind the scenes to make us reliant on expensive fossil fuels is even worse. And it's completely out of step with the greenwashed climate commitments they make to us as rate-paying customers.
But if enough people speak up and publicly call out the bad actors who are using this corruption to pad their wallets, we can get them to cave to public pressure and stop funding climate obstruction once and for all.
TAKE ACTION
Power plants are to blame for a whopping 25 percent of our nation's climate pollution. And EPA is taking on this problem thanks to its first-ever national limits on climate pollution, which will cut nearly 2 billion tons of carbon.
By suing EPA, EEI and dirty utility companies have shown us their true faces—they're more interested in keeping business as usual to protect their ancient fossil power plants and monopolies than they are in their own climate commitments.
We have the right to demand more from those we pay each month to power our homes. That's why EEI needs to hear directly from you: We do not want our money funding climate obstruction.
Thanks for all you do,
