If you still need convincing, here's what's happening in Louisiana…
Louisiana's move to criminalize possession of the abortion pill is a stark reminder of exactly how the November election could affect reproductive care in our country. Think about it like this:
👉 If House Republicans decide they want to pass a copycat bill to emulate Louisiana's law to classify the abortion pill as a "controlled, dangerous substance," a Democratic House majority could easily stop this bill in its tracks.
👉 Right now, our blue Senate is the first line of defense against anti-abortion legislation the Republican House tries to pass.
👉 Finally, President Joe Biden has spent his first term in office as a proud pro-choice champion — he would not hesitate to veto a law that makes the abortion pill harder to access for millions of Americans.
But imagine what would happen if Donald Trump wins the presidency, Republicans keep the House, and Democrats lose the Senate in November. It's terrifying.
Winning up and down the ballot in November is critical. It's our best chance to protect abortion rights and stop anti-abortion bills, like the one just passed by Louisiana, from being enacted on a national level.
