** A Memorial Day to remember
------------------------------------------------------------
We were privileged to speak at several events honoring our brave men and women in uniform this Memorial Day. We started the day at the Tremonton ([link removed]) Riverview Cemetery to see a new monument dedicated to four brothers who lost their lives during World War II. Alben and Gunda Borgstrom of Thatcher lost four children in the line of duty within six months. We’re forever grateful to the Borgstrom family who gave so much for our country. Later, we were able to visit with veterans and their families at the Memorial Day service at our beautiful State Capitol ([link removed]) .
Lt. Gov. Henderson attended the Pleasant Grove City Memorial Day Ceremony, where she conveyed a message of gratitude, remembrance, and recognition of the ultimate sacrifice made by fallen heroes of Utah County.
We honor those who serve in the military and their families for their sacrifices so that we may remain free.
** We need more foster families
------------------------------------------------------------
This week First Lady Abby and I issued a call for help. We urgently need more Utahns willing to foster a child, especially those older than age 9, or a sibling group. There are currently 1,756 youth in foster care, but only 822 licensed foster care families.
As the most service-minded and charitable state in the nation, we know we can meet the need and take care of our children. We’re grateful for the support of our interfaith leaders from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, First Presbyterian Church and others who are amplifying this call for help. ** How Junior Achievement changes lives

We loved meeting with students and supporters of Junior Achievement this week at Discovery Gateway. It’s incredible to see the difference JA makes in the lives of our young people, offering them hands-on experiences, connecting them with mentors and coaches, and inspiring them to find meaningful work, start businesses and prepare for the future.

** We’re #1!

In addition to being the state with the best economic outlook and the best place to start a business, Utah is now ranked as the healthiest state for older adults, according to America’s Health Rankings.
While we can always improve, it’s great to see that Utah seniors have the lowest risk of social isolation, the highest rate of volunteerism, and the lowest rates of smoking and excessive drinking. Thanks to state and local partners for supporting our older adults and keep up the good work, seniors!
** Congrats, Utah Virtual Academy High School graduates

We were so happy to congratulate in person the Utah Virtual Academy ([link removed]) High School Class of 2024! Each of these 203 graduates found their place in this unique education setting where they thrived.
From high school to college, we applaud all graduates throughout our state and wish you happiness and success in the years ahead.
** Martha goes to Washington D.C.

Lt. Gov. Henderson has been promoting the Martha Hughes Cannon statue sendoff event on June 5 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Utah State Capitol. Martha will travel to her new home in the National Statuary Hall Collection of the United States Capitol.
This outdoor festival is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and honor the achievements of Dr. Cannon, the pioneering Utah physician and politician who shattered barriers as the nation's first female state senator. The event promises live music, delectable food trucks, entertaining lawn games, and engaging activities designed to delight kids and families alike.
Join us in celebrating this remarkable woman's legacy and sending off her statue to its permanent place in the nation's capital.

The ballots for the upcoming primary election in Utah will be sent to registered voters on Tuesday, June 4th. For more information about the upcoming election, including candidate information, polling locations, and election dates, please visit vote.utah.gov.

* We enjoyed meeting employees at ARUP ([link removed]) , TEVA Pharmaceutical ([link removed]) , Stryker and Celtic Bank this week. Thank you for strengthening our economy and our people.
* Loved participating in the launch of Project Alta ([link removed]) (Utah’s Air Logistics and Transportation Alliance), a pioneering initiative spearheaded by 47G. Project Alta represents an ambitious effort to be the foremost authority in advanced air mobility on a global scale. Great news for Utah!
* Congratulations to the newly formed Brazilian American Chamber ([link removed]) of Commerce of Utah. We look forward to collaborating to promote international trade and see the benefits for our state and all Utahns.
