Samuel, there's really nothing more frustrating than listening to
Republicans howl about how they're going to shut down the
government again.

President Obama is absolutely right -- Congress has a
serious job to do. So I think it's about time we elected
some more serious people to Congress.

Pitch in $5 or whatever you can before our big deadline at
the end of the month to throw the shutdown crowd out and
elect some Democrats:

Subject: What Republicans are doing now:

Friend --

By now, you've probably heard the ultimatums some Republicans
are making. They say they'll either shut down our government or
restrict access to affordable health care for many women and
families across the country. Two years ago, some of these very
same lawmakers forced a shutdown (that took $24 billion out of the
U.S. economy) because they didn't like Obamacare. Today, they
want to do it again because they don't like Planned Parenthood.

Let me be clear: Neither outcome is one our economy or our country
can afford or accept.

The thing is that Congress has a job to do -- and it's a pretty important
one. Of course they ought to do the bare minimum of passing a budget,
but beyond that, Congress should aim higher: They should seek to
improve American lives in meaningful ways. There's so much we can
still do together, but we need all of our elected officials to get serious
and get to work, not just some of them.

Notwithstanding what some Republicans say, America is doing
great. But we can do even better. Pitch in $5 or whatever you can to
help us elect Democrats up and down the ballot next year, so when I
hand over the keys to the Oval Office to our next Democratic president,
he or she will have a Democratic Congress to work with on the things
that matter the most:
