During a routine anatomy scan at 19 weeks pregnant, Allie learned that the baby she was expecting, Miley Rose, was not going to make it.

Doctors warned that continuing the pregnancy would endanger her life. However, abortion is banned in Tennessee – forcing Allie to leave the state to seek life-saving care:

“With a risk of sepsis, blood clots, or more, I underwent an emergency abortion. I did this alone: in a city I had never been to before, without my family or my husband there by my side,” Allie said.

After this horrible, tragic experience, Allie began advocating for “Miley’s Law,” which would add an exception for fetal anomalies to the state abortion ban.

However, her legislator, Rep. Jeff Burkhart, did not have any empathy for her experience, stating, if his own daughter had been in Phillips’s position, he’d have wanted her to continue the pregnancy… he also said he didn’t realize abortions could happen in a second pregnancy (???).

Now Allie is running for HIS SEAT in the TN House of Representatives.
