Chief Justice John Roberts predictably declined to meet with Democratic senators to discuss glaring Supreme Court ethics issues in the wake of reports that Justice Samuel Alito flew radical right-wing flags at multiple residences, further shattering the paper-thin illusion of judicial impartiality on the nation's highest court. Sens. Dick Durbin and Sheldon Whitehouse asked to meet with Roberts “as soon as possible” and renewed their “call for the Supreme Court to adopt an enforceable code of conduct for justices," prompting a milquetoast reply from Roberts that "such a meeting would be inadvisable" since the parties have "expressed an interest in matters pending before the court." Oh, well then, since sitting US senators have an interest in matters before the court, we dare not confront gaping, luxury RV-sized holes in said court's veneer of credibility!

New York hospital fires nurse after calling Gaza war a "genocide" in speech
Hesen Jabr, a 34-year-old labor and delivery nurse at New York University’s Langone hospital, was fired after using the word “genocide” during an award ceremony speech to describe the horrific loss of life in Gaza. Jabr, who worked at NYU for nearly 10 years, made the remarks while accepting an award earlier this month for providing excellent care to patients suffering perinatal loss. Jabr spoke about mothers in Gaza experiencing bereavement during Israel’s deadly campaign against Hamas in the besieged territory, where more than 35,000 Palestinians have been killed in eight months of war. “It pains me to see the woman from my country going through unimaginable losses themselves during the current genocide in Gaza,” Jabr said in her speech. "Even though I can’t hold their hands and comfort them as they grieve their unborn children and the children they have lost during this genocide, I hope to keep making them proud as I keep representing them here at NYU,” she added. On May 22, the first day Jabr worked after receiving the award, she was fired for "bringing politics into the workplace."
