Hello Democrats,
Tomorrow, we recognize the beginning of Pride Month! This June, we celebrate the vibrant and resilient LGBTQ+ community, honoring their contributions, recognizing their struggles, and reaffirming our commitment to equality and justice for all. As Democrats, we stand together in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ friends, family, and neighbors, championing policies that promote inclusion, protect rights, and ensure that every individual can live authentically and without fear.
As we move through the month of June, we will also acknowledge and celebrate Juneteenth, a significant day in our nation's history. Juneteenth, observed on June 19th, commemorates the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in the United States, marking the true end of slavery in our country. Democrats of Indian River will participate in the Juneteenth event held in Gifford on Thursday, June 19th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Volunteers will set up a table with information on voter registration, requesting a mail-in-ballot, and more. Stop by and say hello! If you are interested in volunteering for this event please email our Vice Chair of Outreach, Bob Bruner, at
[email protected].
Another exciting upcoming event is the Democratic Club of Indian River Garden Party in Vero Beach. More details coming soon. For now, be sure to save the date for Saturday, July 21st at 2:00 pm.
And rounding up this week's update is some BREAKING NEWS! We'll let David Pepper share what's been happening behind the scenes for Florida. We can't wait to partner with our NEW Democratic candidates. Stay tuned!

Project 2025
Project 2025, a comprehensive transition plan is the conservative movement’s most robust policy and staffing proposal for a potential second Trump White House. Project 2025 focuses on packing the next GOP administration with extreme loyalists to former President Donald Trump by reinstating Schedule F ([link removed]) , a Trump-era executive order that makes federal employees fireable at-will. Additionally, the proposals outlined in Project 2025 would severely inhibit the federal government’s protections around reproductive rights, LGBTQ and civil rights, climate change efforts, and immigration. While the Trump campaign has attempted ([link removed]) to distance itself from efforts to promote or speculate about “future presidential staffing or policy announcements,” Project 2025 has been heavily promoted
([link removed]) by MAGA-connected media figures such as Steve Bannon, who has called ([link removed]) it the “blueprint” for Trump's second term. Learn more HERE. ([link removed])

Acts of political violence have surged in recent years. Officeholders serving in local and state government across the country, as well as those serving in other essential capacities such as poll workers, have faced a barrage of intimidating abuse and threats. During this June 5 webinar panelists will discuss the public’s attitudes toward political violence, and how gun owners in particular view this topic.
