Dear John,
Excitingly, we have a new member of staff to introduce to you today. Amy joins us as our new CEO and is welcomed below by PM Chair, Sara Parkin.
Our Content and Campaigns Specialist, Florence, continues to make important headway at UN conferences, this time at the Commission on Population and Development. We also have a feature from Choice Ambassador Joan Kembabazi, who attended the Commission on the Status of Women back in March.
Fundraising Officer Anthony rounds off Spring Action Month with a report on all the happenings that took place around the world. We have also just kicked off a new partnership with an amazing organisation in the Philippines, the PATH Foundation. Find out more below.

Meet Amy Jankiewicz, our new CEO
Population Matters is excited to announce the appointment of our new CEO. Sara Parkin, Chair of the Board of Trustees, welcomes Amy.

Lingering anxiety around the "P" word
This year’s 57th session on Population and Development marked a significant milestone, the 30th anniversary of the landmark Programme of Action’s adoption in Cairo. As thousands gathered at the UN headquarters in New York, our Content and Campaigns Specialist, Florence Blondel, was there to ensure that Population Matters was part of the conversation.

Our submission to the UK Government’s select committee
Population Matters was asked to give evidence to the UK Government’s environmental audit select committee on 5 June, and we submitted a written statement in advance. Unfortunately, with the general election being called, all select committee hearings have been cancelled, but we still want to share this important piece of work with you.

Last week, our second annual Spring Action Month came to a close. Thank you for taking part in various Spring Actions all over the world. During the month we received donations, welcomed new members and new supporters to our cause. People ran races, downloaded recipe cards and even sold greeting cards. We look forward to something even bigger and better in 2025!

The Commission on the Status of Women took place in New York in March. Population Matters’ Choice Ambassador, Joan Kembabazi, was there representing her organisation, Gufasha Girls Foundation. She reports back on a very busy conference that included moderating a UNICEF side event.

This Guardian article reports that a fifth of female climate scientists who responded to a survey said they had opted to have no or fewer children. The article shines an important light on the personal choices of some of the people who comprehend our current crises better than anyone.
