Friend,
Since I came to Congress, I've made it my mission to stay above Washington partisan drama to get things done. I am proud to say that my approach to the problems arising from coronavirus -- whether health or economic in nature -- has been based on science and evidence, and hearing directly from all people in my district about their concerns and challenges. I am determined to support those in our communities who are most in need during this difficult time.
Two weeks ago, I introduced two major bills that will provide relief to Americans who are most in need. They were both included in the CARES Act and signed into law by the President.
The first bill expands programs and services for older Americans and people with disabilities. It will provide additional nutritional support to the 11 million older and disabled Americans who need delivered meals since they can no longer congregate in group settings where they previously received daily meals.
The second bill allows Medicare beneficiaries to receive home health care on the orders of not just a physician (as was previously the case), but also on orders of an allied health professional such as a physician's assistant or nurse practitioner. This will allow so many more Medicare recipients to get the health support they need in the comfort of their own homes, which is so vital in this stay-at-home time.
I am thankful that my colleagues in Congress and the President were able to put aside partisan differences in order to incorporate these two important pieces of the CARES Act that I introduced. By doing so, we can provide the most vulnerable Americans the care and food they need without having to put themselves at risk.
Since the start of this crisis, my top concern has continued to be the health, safety, and security of hardworking families in Pennsylvania’s 7th District and across the country. I will continue to do all I can to protect and uplift our communities in need.
Thank you for your continued support.
