Jury Finds Trump Guilty on All 34 Felonies
Wall Street Journal: Donald Trump became the first former president ever convicted of a crime, with a Manhattan jury finding him guilty Thursday of 34 felonies for falsifying records to cover up hush money paid to a porn star. The historic verdict, stemming from conduct that took place around Trump’s remarkable run to the presidency in 2016, could threaten his 2024 bid to return to the White House. Trump can still run and his poll numbers remained steady during the more than monthlong trial, though some voters have said they might be less likely to vote for him if he were convicted. A jury of five women and seven men found the former president guilty of all the counts he faced, on the second day of deliberations ( Wall Street Journal). Collin Rugg: Donald Trump says the “real verdict” will be decided on election day November 5th, 2024, calls out George Soros after being found guilty. “It’s okay, I’m fighting for our country… I’m fighting for our constitution.” Trump also called out President Biden, saying the trial was an attempt to interfere in the 2024 election ( X).

Democrats, Legacy Media Elated With Trump Verdict
Wall Street Journal: The conviction sets a precedent of using legal cases, no matter how sketchy, to try to knock out political opponents, including former Presidents. Mr. Trump has already vowed to return the favor. If Democrats felt like cheering Thursday when the guilty verdict was read, they should think again. Mr. Bragg might have opened a new destabilizing era of American politics, and no one can say how it will end ( Wall Street Journal). Washington Post: CNN’s Jake Tapper called it “an incredibly consequential day in the history of the United States,” while MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow described it as “an irreducible verdict” ( Washington Post). Charlie Kirk: MSNBC: “It’s a majestic day…miracle is too strong a word…a day for celebration!” These people are so disgusting ( X). End Wokeness: The Clintons: 0 charges or trials. Hunter Biden: 0 charges or trials. Anthony Fauci: 0 charges or trials. Epstein clients: 0 charges or trials. COVID criminals: 0 charges or trials. DC war criminals: 0 charges or trials ( X).

Boston Mayor Wishes to Abolish Gang Registry, Not Prosecute Criminals for Theft
Fox News: Boston Mayor Michelle Wu advocated a soft-on-crime agenda by pushing to abolish the gang registry and arguing that criminal behavior – such as theft – should not be prosecuted. Prior to being elected mayor, Wu filled out the “2021 Boston Mayoral Candidate Questionnaire” from Progressive Massachusetts, a 501c4 nonprofit organization that tracks and ranks how progressive elected officials are. According to its website, the group “intends to transform Massachusetts into a bold laboratory for progressive state initiatives.” In the document, Wu outlined her most progressive commitments, including her support for noncitizens voting in Boston’s local elections. Wu also promised to advocate for reallocating some of the police’s budget towards other city priorities as mayor. The mayor said she believes law enforcement should be “demilitarized” ( Fox News).

Iranian Leader Praises College Students, Professors for Antisemitic Protests
The same man would not hesitate to kill them simply for being American. Daily Wire: The Islamic Republic of Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, wrote a letter on Wednesday announcing its support for the left-wing protests that have disrupted college campuses across the U.S. and for the professors responsible for indoctrinating their students with anti-Semitism. The protests that erupted in April led to encampments popping up at various top universities across the U.S. as Jewish students and law enforcement were attacked and the protesters called for the destruction of the state of Israel and, in some cases, went further by calling for an “Intifada,” which is a terrorist attack against Jews or the state of Israel. Professional agitators helped whip up the chaos at many of the schools ( Daily Wire). National Review: The theocrats in Tehran have always been forthcoming in their support for terrorism and subversion. They do not disguise their goals: the destruction of the “Zionist entity,” the displacement and murder of its civilians, and, ultimately, “death to America.” The Iranian regime appears to believe that the student protesters share these goals. Indeed, why shouldn’t they ( National Review)?

UCLA Medical School Tasks First, Second Year Students to Create Curriculum for Mandatory DEI Courses
Washington Examiner: The University of California, Los Angeles medical school solicited first-year medical students for a paid position writing curriculums for courses in their “Structural Racism and Health Equity” mandatory classes. In documents obtained through a public records request from the medical advocacy group Do No Harm, the medical school was recruiting “tutors” to “create new curricular content for our SRHE thread—lectures, panels, discussion guides, cases, new electives—as well as audit and analyze existing curricular content for other SRHE threads.” SRHE is the school’s name for its Structural Racism and Health Equity curriculum. The recruiting letter was seeking first and second year medical students, as well as “Leave of Absence” students ( Washington Examiner). New American: Thanks to supposedly illegal racial preferences, the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine has become a “failed medical school,” with “a third to a half of” students “incredibly unqualified,” according to insiders interviewed. “We want racial diversity so badly, we’re willing to cut corners to get it,” lamented one former admissions staffer. Much of that corner-cutting is the work of dean of admissions Jennifer Lucero ( New American).

Chinese Puppet Court in Hong Kong Finds 14 Pro-Democracy Activists Guilty
NBC: A Hong Kong court on Thursday found 14 of 16 pro-democracy activists guilty of conspiring to subvert the state in the Chinese territory’s single largest case under a sweeping national security law imposed by Beijing. The three judges handpicked by the government to hear the case acquitted two of the defendants, former district councilors Lawrence Lau and Lee Yue-shun, making them the first national security law defendants to be found not guilty after trial. The defendants are among 47 politicians, academics and other pro-democracy figures who were charged with conspiracy to commit subversion over their involvement in an unofficial primary election. Those who were convicted, along with 31 others who pleaded guilty, will be sentenced at a later date, with potential prison terms ranging from three years to life ( NBC). Fox News: Observers said the subversion case illustrated how the security law is being used to crush the political opposition following huge anti-government protests in 2019. It also showed that Beijing’s promise to retain the former British colony’s Western-style civil liberties for 50 years when it returned to China in 1997 was becoming increasingly threadbare, they said ( Fox News).

San Francisco Removes "Appeal to Heaven" Flag From Civic Center Plaza
Newsmax: The City of San Francisco removed an “Appeal to Heaven” flag from Civic Center Plaza due to its association with the Jan. 6 unrest at the Capitol. The flag was one of the original 18 flags raised by the city on June 14, 1964, meant to commemorate a key moment or symbol in American history. Other flags flown at Civic Center Plaza include a “Don’t Tread on Me” flag and a Texas Lone Star flag. The “Appeal to Heaven” flag stirred up new controversy after it was revealed it was flown outside Justice Samuel Alito’s vacation home in New Jersey last year. “This flag was originally used during the American Revolutionary War, flown by George Washington’s cruisers, and is associated with the early quest for American independence. It’s since been adopted by a different group-one that doesn’t represent the city’s values, so we made the decision to swap it with the American flag,” said San Francisco Recreation and Parks communications manager Daniel Montes. The department swapped the flag for an American flag. The Confederate Flag previously flew at Civic Center Plaza before protesters ripped it down ( Newsmax).

Supreme Court Sides With NRA in 9-0 Ruling
NBC: The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that the National Rifle Association can pursue a claim that a New York state official’s efforts to encourage companies to end ties with the gun rights group constituted unlawful coercion. The justices unanimously found that the NRA can move forward with arguments that its free speech rights under the Constitution’s First Amendment were violated by the actions of Maria Vullo, the then-superintendent of the New York state Department of Financial Services ( NBC). Katie Pavlich: The ruling reverses a Second Circuit decision stating Vullo’s actions “constituted permissible government speech and legitimate law enforcement.” The NRA argued Vullo “violated the First Amendment by coercing DFS-regulated parties to punish or suppress the NRA’s gun-promotion advocacy” ( Townhall).

GDP Growth Revised to Show 1.3 Percent Annual Growth
Market Watch: The U.S. economy grew at a lackluster 1.3% annual pace in the first three months of the year, revised figures show, largely because of softer consumer spending that could herald a broader slowdown in the economy. The increase in gross domestic product, the official scorecard for the economy, was the smallest in almost two years. Previously the government reported that GDP had expanded at a 1.6% rate in the first quarter. The biggest contributors to the tepid GDP report were a wider trade deficit and lower production of unsold goods or inventories. The revised report also showed that consumer spending, the main driver of the economy, grew at a 2% pace instead of 2.5% as previously indicated. Household spending had risen at a rate of more than 3% in the prior two quarters. The rate of inflation was little changed ( Market Watch). Washington Examiner: For months, economists have expected GDP to slow down after the Fed raised its interest rate target to 5.25% to 5.50% in response to too-high inflation. Higher rates typically cause economic output to dampen ( Washington Examiner).
