The bad news has been coming into our inboxes almost nonstop since COVID-19 was identified as a pandemic.
Essential workers are out every day fighting to save lives and keep our communities functioning. The rest of us are at home trying to be productive where we can, and a lot of you have reached out asking about ways to help others.
Here are some ideas for how you can safely help your community:
1) Give Food!
There are a lot of hungry families in our area and local Food Banks are still accepting donations:
- Seeds of Hope accepts non-perishable food items
- Drop off: Daytime, Mon.-Thurs.
- Motion Chiro in Fishhawk
- Eaton Realty
- Echo of Brandon needs items like jellies, pasta sauce, dry pasta, mac & cheese, and cereal
- Drop off: Wed. and Fri. 9:00AM-1:00PM
- 507 N. Parsons Ave, Brandon FL
- 7807 Capitano St, Riverview FL
2) Adopt your neighborhood
This time has been especially difficult for members of our community who live alone.
Print out some of our Help Your Neighbor letters and drop them off at your neighbors' houses. This is a good way to let your neighbors know that you are thinking about them! Click here to print!
3) Support Local Businesses
Shopping at local businesses here in Brandon and Riverview, when you can, helps small businesses continue paying their bills and their employees.
- Have a sit-down family dinner with take-out from your favorite local restaurant.
- Grab a quality drink from a local brewery!
- Tip your food delivery workers! They are making it possible for us to stay home safe.
