John, moments ago, a Manhattan jury found Trump guilty on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up campaign finance violations during the 2016 election.
Twelve ordinary American citizens decided the legal fate of Donald Trump. Proving that nobody – not even a former President of the United States or (pretend) billionaire – is above the law.
And despite Trump’s efforts to distract, delay, and deny – justice arrived for Donald Trump all the same. And by a jury of his peers.
My takeaway:
Our system of justice worked. Our rule of law withstood the immense pressure Trump brought to bear. Notwithstanding the enormous stresses on our democracy, the system is holding. And accountability matters.
Winning the presidency may now be the only thing remaining between Trump and avoiding prison time — either in this prosecution or three others — and he has shown he will tear down the entire system of American democracy to protect himself and return to power. WE MUST NOT LET HIM. Thousands of Democrats are sending in contributions to hold Trump accountable at the ballot box. Join them and chip in just $10 to my campaign today before tomorrow’s May fundraising deadline.

Make no mistake, this verdict will only increase Donald Trump’s attempts to discredit the justice system and tear down our democracy. His enablers in Congress will do the same.
We need to call those efforts out for exactly what they are:
A blind attempt to protect a now-convicted felon, and deeply immoral human being, in the headlong pursuit of power.
Because justice prevailed today. Justice.
And it’s up to each of us to make sure the justice system continues to hold him accountable. In federal cases in Washington, D.C. and Florida and the state case in Georgia.
And in November, we MUST defeat Donald Trump at the ballot box. That will be the ultimate accountability and affirmation of our democracy.
Thanks for standing up for the rule of law and the cherished legacy of our founders.
