This Wednesday, the FX/Hulu television series “Mrs. America” premieres. The show portrays the Equal Rights Amendment battle in the 1970s with a focus on the opposition’s leader and Eagle Forum Founder, Phyllis Schlafly, along with other prominent liberal feminists.
Â
In this episode of Engage with Eagle Forum, Tabitha Walter and Kirsten Hasler interviewed Eagle Forum Chairman Anne Schlafly Cori to respond to the show’s claims made against Phyllis. As you know, Hollywood is historically known for twisting narratives, especially political ones, in favor of a liberal agenda. While the show hasn’t been released yet, there is a noticeable bias for feminism and the Equal Rights Amendment in the trailers and ads for “Mrs. America.” In our discussion, we broke down one of the trailers almost line-by-line to reveal the truth about who Phyllis Schlafly was and the values she held dear.
Â
It is important that we fight for Phyllis’ character as the “Mrs. America” smear not only hurts her but also threatens the conservative values she championed. We cannot let Hollywood and the liberal elitists drive the narrative about what really happened in the 1970’s battle against the ERA.
