Hi John xxxxxx,

Welcome to the latest New Pennsylvania Project newsletter! In this edition, you'll find critical election news, updates on upcoming and recent events, and exciting career opportunities. We’re here to keep you informed about our progress in breaking down voting barriers, key election updates, and the initiatives shaping Pennsylvania's future.

We also address how unfair the proposed Pennsylvania budget is and how it threatens to direct funding away from our communities so the rich can get richer. This budget and the headlines in the news are a reminder of why we must continue our efforts at all levels—on the streets and in the courts—to protect our rights and our communities. Freedom and liberation are projects in progress, not a destination we have reached.

As we gear up for the 2024 general election, we invite you to join us in our mission to educate and mobilize voters who then vote every election to make change in our communities.

Stay informed with essential election resources and dates as we approach the 2024 General Election on November 5th.

Remember, your voice matters, and we’re here to provide the information and resources needed to shape Pennsylvania’s future.

Thank you for staying informed and engaged! Together change is possible.

Kadida discusses the importance of prioritizing communities' real problems and restoring confidence in our government.

She highlights the PA Senate Republicans' failure to use surplus funding for schools and vital services, instead favoring wealthy backers. It's time for leadership that genuinely represents the people of Pennsylvania!

"As the leader of the New Pennsylvania Project, a voting rights organization focused on empowering new voters in ignored communities to engage in the democratic process. Nothing makes that work more challenging than when leaders ignore communities’ real problems and undermine confidence in our government."

Department of State and PA Secretary of State, Al Schmidt.

It is important to fight at all levels to ensure that every voter has their mail-in ballots counted. New voters, Black voters, and new citizens already face so many barriers to participating in our democracy we do not need to make more. We do have a moral and legal responsibility to make sure every eligible voter who casts a ballot is counted.

“Unfortunately, disqualifying voters’ mail ballots over a trivial paperwork error on their return envelope discourages voters from participating in the democratic process,” Kadida Kenner, chief executive officer of the New PA Project Education Fund, said in a statement. “We want Pennsylvanians voting twice a year — every year — not disenfranchised by this unnecessary rule.”

In Pennsylvania, elections are often decided by the slimmest margins, and every vote counts. It's time to protect voter rights and ensure all voices are heard! Change is possible!

The future of our democracy depends on young voters. At the "Stop Trump Summit," NPP CEO Kadida Kenner emphasized the importance of addressing the concerns of voters under 35, who make up 70% of our recent registrations.

“You can’t just register them to vote and then walk away,” Kenner said. “You have to talk about the issues and listen to the issues they care about the most and thinking about their future. And young folks aren’t any different than anybody else in this room. They care about the economy, they care about paying the bills, they care about inflation, they care about their student loans.”
