In just a few moments, John, I’ll ask you to add a contribution to my reelection campaign. We’re alarmingly behind on our end-of-month fundraising goal, and with the general election starting next week, I need just a few minutes to explain why I’m asking.

Let’s start here: My fundraising team has informed me that our campaign is short of where we need to be 1 day out from our deadline. That’s not great.

But what is great is the response to messages like this one. Your donations allow us to respond to attacks from billionaire-backed super PACs with people power.

Do you think you could split a donation of any amount between my reelection campaign and Fight for Progress right now? Even a donation of $3 would make a big difference in getting us back on track.

My opponent doesn’t have this problem. He’s got all the outside money he needs to distort my record and attack my character.

But that’s not me.

I decided a long time ago that I would run this campaign the right way—by relying on grassroots supporters giving whatever they can to help us win.

I am personally asking you to rush an urgent contribution of $3 or more between our campaign and Fight for Progress. Help us catch up on our fundraising goals as we enter the next phase of this race.

I’m proud to say that we’ve received more than half a million individual contributions since we launched my reelection campaign. That’s a testament to how we’ve built this campaign from the ground up.
