Hi friends – I wanted to take a moment to say thanks.
I’m almost three-quarters of the way through my second term in Congress – and less than six months away from my next election – and today, I find myself reflecting on how much this team means to me.
One thing you hear about when you’re running for Congress is that House members are on a constant campaign loop – that with a two-year term, you spend all of your time both serving and running, because your next election is always right around the corner.
And I have to say – if there is any group of supporters who could make that constant campaigning actually fun, it’s this one. I absolutely love spending time with voters in San Diego, I have such a great time with our local Democratic clubs, and I really enjoy the relationship we’ve built right here on the internet.
It’s not lost on me that having a genuine back-and-forth of meaningful ideas isn’t exactly the norm in political email programs, and it wouldn’t be possible without everyone on this team making it a priority.
So thank you! Thanks for everything you do in your neighborhood and community, and thanks for everything you do online and via email to share feedback, offer words of encouragement, and weigh in on the issues.
My least favorite part of campaigning is, of course, the fundraising. It’s tough, it’s never-ending, and it’s definitely not as much fun as canvassing or phonebanking.
But it’s absolutely necessary. In order for Democrats to deliver the victories we need in November, we’ve got to boost our fundraising numbers. I’m sure you saw the news that Trump and the RNC outraised President Biden and the DNC last month – so now is not the time to tune out.
If you can, please pitch in with an online contribution of $25, $50, or whatever you can before we close the books on May tomorrow at midnight. Your donations are such an important part of building a winning campaign!
Thank you so much.
