Wenger, M.D., a pioneer in the field of cardiology and a tireless advocate for women's heart health, these awards celebrate individuals and organizations who have made significant strides in advancing awareness, research, and support for women living with heart disease.

Join us as we commemorate WomenHeart's 25th anniversary with a very special Wenger Awards on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Hotel Washington. Our theme, Garden of Gratitude, reflects our gratitude for our incredible community of women's heart health advocates.

Cathy Porter

Dr. Sharonne N. Hayes Award for Champion Excellence

Cathy is an advocate for women living with heart disease. Her dedication is evidenced by her volunteer work with WomenHeart as a WomenHeart Champion and District Leader.

Cathy has led and started several WomenHeart programs, most notably co-founding our HeartScarves program that brings comfort and support to those facing heart health challenges.

Dr. Maribel Hernández

Excellence in Clinical Practice

Dr. Hernández has over 30 years of experience as a leading cardiologist specializing in managing heart rhythm disorders. She's also the co-founder and Medical Director of Lankenau Heart Institute’s Women’s Heart Initiative, dedicated to raising awareness and prevention of heart disease in women.

Dr. Erin Michos

Excellence in Medical Leadership

Dr. Michos is an expert in Women’s Cardiovascular Health and Preventive Cardiology, and is dedicated to transforming how we understand and treat heart disease in women. She holds several positions at Johns Hopkins University. Her groundbreaking research, comprising over 680 published manuscripts, has earned her global recognition.

Dr. Pam Taub

Excellence in Medical Leadership

Dr. Taub is a board-certified cardiologist and internationally recognized expert in cardiometabolic disease. She is the founding director of the Step Family Foundation Cardiac Rehabilitation and Wellness Center and Professor of Medicine at UC San Diego. She is widely published and holds several leadership positions in professional societies.

Dr. Jeanne Poole

Excellence in Medical Research

Dr. Poole's groundbreaking publications in prestigious journals have not only disseminated cutting-edge research findings but have also shaped clinical practice and guideline development, setting the standard for excellence in cardiovascular research.

Jennifer Forsyth

Excellence in Media

In her 20+ years in healthcare public relations, Jennifer has been an incredible leader in advancing patient health through innovative communication strategies. Her commitment to addressing health disparities for women with heart failure, particularly Black and Latina women, is inspiring.
