Hi,

The world reacted with shock and horror Sunday when Israel bombed a
refugee tent camp in Rafah, killing at least 45 and wounding at least
240.^1

Then yesterday, The New York Times confirmed that the bombs used in the
strike were made in and provided to Israel by the United States.^2

And now there are reports that Israel bombed another refugee tent camp in
Rafah on Tuesday, killing at least another 21 people.^3

President Biden had previously said that a ground invasion of Rafah would
be a "red line" that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must not
cross.^4 Now President Biden must enforce that red line, stop providing
offensive weapons to Israel, and demand an immediate and permanent
ceasefire.

In the words of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the bombing of the tent
camp in Rafah was an "indefensible atrocity… done in open defiance of
President Biden's red line."^5

Indeed, the atrocities we're seeing now are exactly what the United
Nations warned would happen if Israel invaded Rafah.^6 Because Rafah is so
small — about the size of O'Hare airport — and overcrowded with refugees,
there's simply no way to engage in this kind of large-scale military
operation without horrific civilian casualties.

Israel has only been able to continue its violence with the support of
American-made bombs and funding. It's now imperative that the U.S. halt
the flow of offensive weapons to the Israeli military.

Demand Progress Action has mobilized tens of thousands of people to demand
a ceasefire in Gaza — and now we must ramp up the pressure.

President Biden and Congress to stop providing offensive weapons to
Israel, and demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire.

With gratitude,

The team at Demand Progress Action
