West Sacramento, CA — Today, Christopher Cabaldon’s campaign for State Senate announced that Congressman Mike Thompson (D-St. Helena), is officially endorsing Cabaldon’s bid for State Senate. Congressman Thompson's district includes all of Lake and Napa Counties, and portions of Solano, Sonoma and Yolo Counties, overlapping significantly with Senate District 3.
In announcing his endorsement, Congressman Thompson said, “Christopher Cabaldon is one of the longest serving mayors in Northern California history. I have known him since he was a legislative aide in the state legislature and have always been impressed by his commitment to serving others. We worked closely together when he was Mayor of West Sacramento where I saw first-hand his work to strengthen the city’s economic position and deliver much needed flood protection for its citizens. He will work hard and smart for our district in the State Senate.”
Congressman Thompson, a Vietnam War veteran, was first elected to Congress in 1999. An ardent advocate for gun violence prevention, health care, and the environment, Thompson has a long history of bipartisan collaboration and effective governance.
In response to the endorsement, Cabaldon said, “Congressman Mike Thompson is one of the accomplished, trusted, and respected leaders in our state. Over the years, we have worked together to achieve significant victories for our communities, including generational investments in flood protection. I am honored to have his support and look forward to continuing our work to deliver real results for our communities in the State Senate.”
His endorsement adds to the unrelenting momentum behind Cabaldon’s campaign, which has recently announced the support of the California Democratic Party, major labor unions representing state and local firefighters, and numerous local, regional, and state leaders.
In the coming weeks, Cabaldon’s campaign will announce several prominent endorsements as Christopher continues to share his vision and priorities with voters throughout State Senate District 3.
The election will be held on November 5, 2024.
