Across the United States, cities and counties are ending traffic stops for
minor, non-safety related violations. The result? Fewer car crashes and
traffic injuries, greater community trust in the police, and a decline in
Black drivers being pulled over at disproportionate rates.
Vera is reimagining safety—not through increased policing and mass
incarceration, but with new policies that center our communities. [ [link removed]- ]Join

Police stop Black drivers at higher rates than white drivers. Some are
stopped over and over again for small violations. These repeated stops put
Black people’s physical, economic, and psychological safety at risk—and
can even be deadly.
Meanwhile, putting an end to traffic stops for minor violations allows
police to go after dangerous traffic violations like running red lights.
These are the kind of research-driven solutions that Vera fights for every
day.
