Hey John,

With this pandemic and a lot of serious issues weighing on us right now, I wanted to share some good news: here in my home state of Virginia, the governor signed some major progressive bills into law over the weekend, including:

*
A
series
of
bills
making
voting
easier
for
Virginians:
making
Election
Day
a
state
holiday;
repealing
the
previously
existing
voter
ID
law;
allowing
for
no-excuse
absentee
voting;
expanding
absentee
voting
access;
automatic
voter
registration
at
the
DMV;
and
extending
in-person
poll
hours
on
Election
Day;
*
The
Reproductive
Health
Protection
Act,
which
removes
the
24-hour
waiting
period
and
ultrasound
requirements
for
those
seeking
abortions;
*
The
Virginia
Dream
Act,
which
expands
in-state
college
tuition
to
undocumented
students;
*
The
Virginia
Values
Act,
which
makes
Virginia
the
first
southern
state
to
enact
comprehensive
non-discrimination
protections
for
the
LGBTQ+
community;
*
Five
gun
violence
prevention
measures,
including
background
checks
and
limits
on
gun
purchases;
and
*
A
cap
on
insulin
co-pays
at
$50
a
month.

This is what progress looks like, and it’s a perfect example of why ALL elections matter. These laws were passed only after Virginia Democrats won the state legislature in November for the first time in almost 25 years!

That’s thanks to voters! In 2019, Voto Latino registered 4,224 voters in Virginia, and we saw historic voter turnout in the state’s elections that November. That’s why Voto Latino is working endlessly every day to hit our goal of registering 1 million voters, and so far we’re at 588,416 completed voter registrations! With your donation today, we can continue to register voters and mobilize them to the polls this November.

Will you help us continue to empower voters and elect leaders that care about our communities by making a grassroots contribution of $10 or more today?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
