Friend,
Iowa’s school districts are in big trouble this coming school year because of government interference into the classroom. Nearly 500 workers have resigned, retired, or are planning to leave Iowa AEAs. This comes after Republican Governor Kim Reynolds and her friends at the state house pushed through legislation that’s already leading to the dismantling of our AEAs.
All nine of Iowa’s AEAs have lost at least 10 percent of their staff – and two AEAs have watched more than 20 percent of their staff leave.
This is disheartening news, to say the least. Iowa Democrats know that our AEAs help our school districts and our children with a variety of issues such as helping kids who have difficulty reading, speaking, behaving, and hearing. They also help those children’s families communicate better with them. Our AEAs help children continue to learn in spite of the loss of loved ones and community members, and AEAs are the first to show up when there’s any sort of crisis in a school district.
Today’s Iowa’s AEA workers are truly irreplaceable.
That’s why I’m asking – will you join us in our mission to bring some common sense back to the state house and elect public servants who understand how important Iowa AEAs are to our children and families?
