I’m releasing my first TV ad of this cycle tomorrow, and honestly, it’s really personal. So I wanted you to hear this from me first:

When my husband and I were in the Air Force and pregnant, we received devastating news. And I chose abortion care.

It’s not something I talk about often, or wanted to lead with in this campaign. Sharing this story isn’t easy for me. But I decided it’s important to tell you, so you’ll know what kind of leader I plan to be in Congress.

John, we need leaders with these lived experiences at the decision-making table. Leaders who would never compromise on our rights. Leaders who will fight like hell to codify abortion rights and expand access to reproductive health care.

I’m sharing this story because I want you to trust that I will be that leader in Congress – a leader who won’t just say they support the right to choose, but a leader who personally knows how critical that right is. Especially right now, because it’s all at stake.

The overturning of Roe v. Wade cleared the way for extremist Republicans to pass a nationwide abortion ban – which has always been their endgame. And if we don’t elect a pro-choice champion to Congress in NY-22 now and flip this seat blue, we will lose this right. Yes, even here in “safe” New York.

John, I’m pro-choice because I had to make that choice. And because I’m the only woman and the only candidate in this race with a proven record of being unapologetically pro-choice, you can trust me when I say: I’m ready to be the leader NY-22 deserves in Congress.

But I need every single undecided voter across the district to know that, too. That’s why I need to raise $30,000 by midnight, to wire the money in time so I can share my story and get my first TV ad on the air tomorrow.
