Tell the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality that we say NO to more gas!» [link removed]

John,

Duke Energy continues to drag its feet in addressing the climate crisis. Most recently, Duke Energy wants to build an expensive and dirty methane gas plant in Roxboro. Not only is methane 80 times more harmful than CO2 for 20 years when released, but this plant could increase consumer costs.

Let your voice be heard! Sign up to testify at the virtual hearing June 12th, 2024 at 6:30pm EST. The deadline to sign up to testify is June 5th, 2024 at 5pm EST. Then sign up for our workshop for giving testimony!

Duke claims the conversion to methane is needed to meet rising electricity demand from data centers and new businesses moving to our state. However, a Duke-commissioned study revealed Duke could most economically meet the carbon reduction targets mandated by the law by tripling solar energy by 2030.

NCUC needs to know North Carolina can grow its economy cleanly, using affordable renewable resources. Doing so can help North Carolina progress toward our climate goals and keep lower utility bills.

Thank you for taking action to protect our people from the effects of climate change and greedy corporations.
