John,

Happy Week of the Young Child ([link removed]) !

This week, advocates for early childhood education are teaming up across the nation to promote the needs of young children and their families, and recognize programs and services that meet those needs.

This year we celebrate the Week of the Young Child under the threat of COVID-19. The inequities we have known about for decades are exposing themselves in a new light. We are seeing the importance of supporting our youngest learners both in their classroom and at home, and recognizing the need to elect public education advocates to who will fight to prepare every Montanan for a bright future.
Even though this year we can't celebrate the Week of the Young Child together, there are still ways you can support our children.

Demand Expanded Broadband
Families across Montana still lack adequate access to broadband. As we shelter-in-place, our kids are expected to continue learning online. This means students without access to high-speed internet are falling behind. Sign our petition ([link removed]) and tell our leaders to make expanding broadband in rural Montana a priority.

Support Public Preschool in Montana
Montana is one of the last states in the nation to provide public preschool to our kids. You can help us ensure every child has the opportunity to enter kindergarten ready to learn by contacting your legislator ([link removed]) and asking them to pass public preschool at the 2021 legislative session.

Donate to the Montana Food Bank Network
If you are able, support the Montana Food Bank Network's ([link removed]) efforts to feed families across Montana.

Follow our Campaign
We'll be sharing activities and information about the Week of the Young Child all week so be sure to follow us on Facebook ([link removed]) and Teaching Together ([link removed]) , and sign up ([link removed]) to receive our emails so you don't miss out.
I understand the importance of preparing our youngest learners for a lifetime of achievement. Our children deserve an advocate at the Office of Public Instruction who fights on behalf of all Montanans, from our preschoolers to our high school seniors.

I hope you'll join me in supporting our children and advocating for our youngest learners this week as we celebrate the Week of the Young Child.

Thank you,
