Dear WILL Supporter,  

We are asking you to step up! WILL has taken on a new case in defense of a Wisconsin mom who is on trial for simply speaking her mind. Scarlett Johnson is being sued for defamation because she criticized her school district on social media for employing a “social justice coordinator.” 



Like many parents, Scarlett’s frustration with her school district forced her to speak out. WILL is protecting her fundamental right to speech — as we have done in the past and will continue doing — for anyone who needs us. Because the Constitution does not belong to one political party or ideology.  

We have a strong case! It is well-established, black-letter law that, to be actionable for defamation, a statement must be “provably false.” For this reason, the case against Ms. Johnson should have been promptly dismissed. We believe the trial judge has erred in her decision. There shouldn’t be a trial and we are hoping there will not be. The decision now rests with an appellate court in Wisconsin.
