At the end of the day, elections are in many ways a numbers game. That’s why organizing is key to winning elections — the more climate voters we turn out, the more climate champions we can elect. That’s why the Jane Fonda Climate PAC is setting some ambitious goals for building our field organizing program. By the time Election Day comes around, we hope to have an army of volunteers out knocking doors, phone banking, writing postcards, and more, leaving no stone unturned when it comes to netting votes for our candidates. I’ve been organizing for decades, and I have found repeatedly that whenever my body is feeling despair, the moment I step into community and take action, the despair lifts. This is what is at the heart of our field program: It’s about coming together to build community as we take collective action. It’s the antidote to despair, and it’s how movements are built and elections are won.
