In the aftermath of the severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, and straight-line winds that began on April 26, we want to ensure that everyone in our community has access to the necessary resources for recovery. Below, you'll find important information about FEMA's Disaster Recovery Center, how to apply for assistance, and support from the Small Business Administration (SBA).

FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Harris County


FEMA is opened a Disaster Recovery Center to provide one-on-one help to Texans affected by the recent severe weather events. The center is located at:

Leon Z Grayson Community Center
13828 Corpus Christi St.
Houston, TX 77015

Operating Hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

Residents from Calhoun, Eastland, Guadalupe, Hardin, Harris, Jasper, Jones, Lamar, Liberty, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, and Waller counties can visit any open center. No appointment is necessary.

All centers are accessible to people with disabilities or those with access and functional needs, and they are equipped with assistive technology. If you need a reasonable accommodation or a sign language interpreter, please call 833-285-7448 (press 2 for Spanish).


FEMA's QUICK ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

FEMA’s disaster assistance offers new benefits that provide flexible funding directly to those affected by the storm. 

Serious Needs Assistance - A $750 payment for households for essential items will now be provided in all disasters receiving Individual Assistance to help people make ends meet.

Displacement Assistance - A new benefit that will provide people with up-front funds to assist with immediate housing options of their choice, to keep people housed.


How to Apply for FEMA Assistance

You do not need to visit a Disaster Recovery Center to register for FEMA assistance. Homeowners and renters can apply in the following ways:

  • Online: Visit DisasterAssistance.gov
  • Mobile App: Download the FEMA App for mobile devices 
  • Phone: Call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Help is available in most languages
  • In Person: Visit any Disaster Recovery Center. For locations and hours, visit fema.gov/drc

Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Assistance

SBA disaster assistance is now available for small businesses affected by the recent storms. SBA customer service representatives will be on hand at the following centers to answer questions. No appointment is necessary.
