Friend,
The uncertainty and anxiety that many Georgians are living with today is the result of a perfect storm created by the Republican Party and its leaders.
Georgia and much of the United States were woefully unprepared for this crisis, which was only exacerbated by the incompetence of our leaders.
Although the CDC calls Atlanta home, Governor Kemp admitted to not knowing even basic facts about the coronavirus as late as April 1st.
After my opponent, Senator Kelly Loeffler, was briefed on the likely pandemic, she downplayed the seriousness of the virus and went to work selling and buying stocks, putting personal profits ahead of the health of her constituents.
President Trump also downplayed the severity of COVID-19 from the very beginning. He failed to roll out sufficient and timely testing for Americans, and he continues to spew lies and mistruths about the virus and our country’s preparedness (or lack thereof) in order to protect his political standing.
Now, countless Georgians wake up every morning unable to go to work and uncertain of how they’re going to pay rent and put food on the table. Others wake up in hospitals that are overextended and low on resources with a massive hospital bill awaiting them upon discharge.
Georgians cannot allow bad leadership and stubborn Republican ideology to persist -- not when the cost is American lives.
We need a leader who focuses on the people of Georgia instead of lining her own pockets. We need a leader who follows science instead of ignoring it at any cost. And we need a leader who works toward intelligent, viable solutions for working families instead of just bailing out big corporations.
That’s why I’m running to defeat Kelly Loeffler and to flip Georgia — and the U.S. Senate — blue in November.
I’m the Democratic frontrunner in this race, and I need your help to win, so we can build a brighter future for our families. Can you chip in $10, $50, $100 or whatever you can right now so that we can take on Loeffler’s multi-million dollar campaign?

As Senator, I will work hard to improve and protect the lives of working families, I’ll advocate for quality and affordable healthcare, and I’ll do whatever I can to help our state and our country recover from this crisis.
In solidarity,
Matt
