I just turned in a huge stack of signatures to the Maine Secretary of State’s office — which means I can now officially say: I’m running for reelection to the U.S. Senate!
John, would you do me the honor of being a Founding Donor to my reelection campaign by chipping in $10 or more today?
I'm running for two main reasons:
- There’s a lot left to do.
- We’re losing the middle in the Senate. The middle is where most Americans are, and it’s where we get things done!
We’ve gotten some important things done in the last few years – the CARES Act to tackle COVID, the Great American Outdoors Act to protect our public lands, the PACT Act for veterans, the bipartisan infrastructure bill, and the CHIPS and Science Act, which has already resulted in an explosion of investment in bringing semiconductor manufacturing back home. But all of these accomplishments were the result of bipartisan negotiations, debate, and compromise. And it’s that spirit of working together I’m afraid we’re losing.
As an Independent, I wake up every day working to bridge the partisan divide, and bring people together to work across party lines. That’s the only way we’re going to solve the difficult issues facing our nation, and I think there’s still a critical role for me to play there.
John, I’m excited about the work ahead and optimistic about what we can get done when we listen to each other.
So, that’s why I’m back at it.
I’m looking forward to spending the next few months talking about all we’ve done already — but more importantly, all the things we can accomplish in the future. I hope to earn your support again, and talk to you in person on the campaign trail.
And, if your pocketbook allows, I’d like to ask for your support on this big day — will you consider being a Founding Donor to my reelection campaign by chipping in $10 or $25 today? It will go a long way towards laying the groundwork for getting my message out to voters.
Thank you, John. Being your senator is the honor of a lifetime. I want to keep at it for you.
