Hello,

I want to make sure my team and I are using our platform to keep you and yours safe, up-to-date, and as prepared as possible for the tough road ahead.

This pandemic is going to continue to challenge us in a variety of unique ways, and a good way to overcome these challenges is to have resources and information as centralized as possible.

To that end, I wanted to share some resources and informational guides with you:

Ways to get help and informational resources:

The Iowa state government has assembled a ton of resources on their website, including our state's infection statistics, symptoms, prevention practices, and everything in between.

The Iowa Department of Health has put together this "How to Cope with Anxiety about Novel Coronavirus" guide. They've also created an "Advice for Talking to Children about COVID-19" guide that parents might find helpful.

If you need to apply for unemployment through the CARES Act, you can do so through the Iowa Workforce Development. You can get more information by clicking here.

If you're a business owner in need of economic resources or assistance, Iowa Economic Development has some resources and information you might find useful.

Students who cannot pay back their federal loans can request loan relief through a special forbearance in response to the pandemic. You can learn more about what that entails by clicking here.

Many Iowa schools have established a free lunch program to help feed students across the state. KCCI Des Moines has put together this helpful list for anyone who needs a little help. The USDA has also compiled some information and resources that you might find helpful.

Ways for you to help:

If you can make a donation to Food Bank of Iowa and help them continue their work feeding our neighbors through this pandemic, we'd really appreciate it.

If you've contracted the virus, recovered, and want to make a plasma donation: You can help health care professionals research and develop treatments. Check out BioLife Plasma Services to help.

If you are healthy and able, consider donating blood to Life Serve Blood Center, Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, or another local blood donation organization. Due to social distancing and isolation, blood donations are at a severely reduced level. If you can help, please do.

We'll be sure to keep you all updated and as prepared as possible while we navigate this fight together.

But if you take nothing else from this note, know that you are not alone. Iowans have seen some tough times, and in times of great hardship, we band together and care for one another.
